Great American Media Reflects on September 11 with the Gary Sinise Foundation

NEW YORK, NY – September 8, 2025 — As the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks approaches, Great American Media pauses to honor and remember the 2,997 lives lost, the more than 6,000 injured, and the countless others forever impacted in the years that followed. Great American Media reflects with deep gratitude on the extraordinary bravery of the NYPD, FDNY, and everyday Americans who rose to the occasion, risking everything to serve, protect, and heal in the wake of unimaginable tragedy.

Bill Abbott, CEO of Great American Media, will be joined by Gary Sinise, Actor, Humanitarian, and Founder of the Gary Sinise Foundation, in a special featured interview, “Exclusive Conversations” on Great American Pure Flix, to discuss the impact of 9/11, the work Sinise is doing for the active-duty, first responder, and veteran communities. Their interview will be available on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, on Great American Pure Flix.

 
In the interview, you can hear Sinise recount how getting to know his brothers-in-law, who fought in Vietnam while Sinise was still in high school, impacted his heart for the military community; what inspired his support for veterans in the Chicago area in the 1980s; and what informed his legendary performance as wounded Vietnam War veteran Lt. Dan in the Academy Award-winning film Forrest Gump. He’ll also discuss a personal turning point following 9/11, when he toured hospitals for service members wounded in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan – and realized how “just showing up” can have a profound impact.

These are not just stories of survival; they are stories of American exceptionalism, compassion, and resolve in the face of darkness,” he continued.

New York, NY – September 4, 2025 – Great American Media today announced that Great American Family and Great American Faith & Living are now carried on YouTube TV, expanding the network’s linear distribution to millions of additional households across the U.S. Great American Media’s streaming service, Great American Pure Flix, will also become available on YouTube’s Primetime Channels lineup in future weeks.

“This agreement ensures that Great American Family is available live to even more viewers across the country,” said Bill Abbott, CEO of Great American Media. “YouTube TV has become a vital platform for families who want the best of traditional cable channels in a modern streaming package, and we are excited to make our networks part of their lineup.”

The timing aligns with the upcoming 5th annual Great American Christmas, one of television’s most popular seasonal events, which will now be accessible live to YouTube TV subscribers for the first time.  Last season, Great American Christmas propelled Great American Family into a top 25 network and the fastest-growing entertainment network on cable television.

In “The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker” Ainsley McGregor (Bure) a former Chicago criminologist returns to her hometown of Sweet River, Texas. She has chosen to trade full-time crime work to open Bless Your Arts, a market for artisans to sell crafts and wares. But Ainsley cannot deny her first love is crime solving and accepts a position teaching a criminology class at the local community college. Her skills quickly become a major asset to the quaint town, when a murder occurs at a winery owned by her friend, who now stands accused of the crime. The Sweet River Sheriff, who just happens to be Ainsley’s brother, Ryan, wants her to stay out of the investigation. But Ainsley knows the pieces of this puzzle do not fit. To help her friend and with the unexpected assistance from some goodhearted local busybodies – Ainsley McGregor is back on the case.

Great American Family, the company’s premiere flagship linear network premieres episode one on Monday, February 26 (8 p.m. ET/PT), and will premiere a new episode every Monday for the five-week first season run. “County Rescue” tells the story of one EMT unit whose medical team saves lives while guiding themselves and each other through journeys of love, hope and faith. The series features a remarkable ensemble cast led by Julia Reilly and Riley Hough alongside co-stars Percy Bell, Kristin Wollett, Brett Varvel, Stacey Patino, Tim Ross, Keller Fornes, Angel Luis, and Curtia Torbert. EPISODE ONE

Dani (Reilly) answers a personal calling to become an EMT at County Rescue where she meets Tim (Hough) who is also a new probationary. The pair meet Chief Scotty (Perez-Ross) who lets them know unexpected budget cuts will only allow him to hire one new EMT and that he will makes his decision at the end of the probationary period. The only other wrinkle is the Fire Chief’s son, Griffin (Fornes) is also a contender for the open job and is confident he will be the hire. At home, Dani seeks support from her family who have some skepticism she will stick with her calling.

EPISODE TWO

Dani (Reilly) gets to know both other probationary EMTs and ends up making a grave mistake on her first shift. Tim (Hough) and Dani are committed to outworking Griffin (Fornes) so he will not get the job. After Dani gets to know Griffin better, her feelings toward him begin to change and he invites her to do something after work so they can get to know each other better. Duke (Bell) begins having nightmares and is keeping secrets about abusing alcohol at work while Marcos (Luis) tries to reassure Duke’s wife. No one on the team knows Chief Scotty is keeping a secret leaderboard to keep track of which rookie is in the lead for the open job.

EPISODE THREE

Dani (Reilly) accompanies Griffin (Fornes) to a club though she tells him she doesn’t want to get involved romantically due to the team’s rule of dating within the unit. Tim (Hough) finds out and wants to confront Dani and ends up finding her kissing Griffin instead. Duke’s (Bell) life is still spinning as he battles his PTSD and Tiffany (Tobert) finds a flask in his work duffel bag while doing laundry. Worried, Tiffany calls Marcos (Luis) for help. Andy (Brett Varvel) and Tim work a Colton Dixon concert that ends up having Tim be in the right place at the right time to be a hometown hero.

EPISODE FOUR

Andy (Varvel) sees Marcos (Luis) in the parking lot outside the station and makes a serious accusation believing Marcos is seeing Tiffany (Torbert). Duke’s (Bell) drinking problems worsen and Tiffany decides to take the kids to her mom’s. Dani (Reilly) accidentally finds Chief Scotty’s (Perez-Ross) secret leaderboard tracking who is in front for the position, and she loses confidence she can clinch the full-time job. The chief is having trouble picking a candidate because they all possess the right stuff – in different ways. Chief Scotty also knows well the struggles of the career: how it affects faith, family, marriages, careers, and above all, exacerbates human foibles.

EPISODE FIVE

Dani (Reilly) resigns from the station before her last shift, though Chief Scotty believes she will be good to her word and not quit before a decision is made. Receiving no support from her family, Dani asks Ashley (Kristin Wollett) to come over to talk heart-to-heart about Dani’s instincts to drop out of hard situations. Duke is MIA from his shift; now Chief Scotty has another difficult decision to make, but he is grateful Dani is there for her final shift. The team debates faith or fate as a call comes from the bar Duke frequents about a potential suicide attempt. They watch in awe as Dani takes over the tense situation. As Duke tells the team he is going on leave to get help, Chief Scotty also has news. A decision has been made as to who gets the job.

Broader terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Lopez will be a major part of Great American Christmas 2024, starring in content for Great American Family where he joins a family of iconic TV stars who have made Great American Christmas a leader in original Christmas content. Great American Christmas 2024 returns in October. His very first film in this partnership will include a holiday film starring alongside wife and Broadway star Courtney Lopez.

GREAT AMERICAN MEDIA COMPLETES MERGER WITH PURE FLIX

Transformational Deal Positions Company as Leaders in Family and Faith-Based Entertainment

New York, NY – June 15, 2023 – Great American Media and Sony Pictures Television’s Pure Flix have completed the previously announced merger to combine the two companies.  The successful merger joins Great American Media’s family-friendly linear and FAST (free ad-supporting streaming TV) channels with the Pure Flix faith and family SVOD (subscription video on demand) service into a consolidated entity.

Great American Media retains a majority interest in the merged company and oversees day-to-day management of the independent organization under the leadership of Bill Abbott, who serves as CEO and reports to the company’s board of directors.  Great American Media will build on the combined portfolio’s multi-faceted family and faith media brands and diversified content distribution capabilities to reach larger and broader audiences on each platform.

Total Day Household Ratings Up 238% in May 2023 

NEW YORK, NY – June 12, 2023 – Great American Family’s ratings growth streak continued in May 2023 after closing out the month up 238% in Total Day Household ratings and leading all networks in year-over-year viewership increases for the seventh consecutive month.  According to Nielsen Media Research, Great American Family also retained its position as TV’s fastest growing network in both 2Q 2023 to date and 2023 YTD with the largest gains in Total Day and Primetime viewership among both Households and Total Viewers.  Please see highlights below:

PURE FLIX AND GREAT AMERICAN MEDIA TO MERGE

Sony Pictures’ Faith and Family Streaming Service to Join Forces with Great American Media’s Portfolio of Family-Friendly Cable and FAST Channels to Serve Growing Audiences

Culver City, CA and New York, NY – May 11, 2023 – Pure Flix, a leading faith and family streaming platform owned by Sony Pictures Television, and Great American Media, home to a growing portfolio of family-friendly media brands, today announced the signing of an agreement to merge the two companies. Pure Flix will become part of the merged company, with Great American Media contributing two cable networks (Great American Family and Great American Living) and a FAST channel (Great American Adventures). Great American Media will retain a majority interest in the merged company and will oversee day-to-day management of the independent organization.

Great American Media President and CEO, Bill Abbott, will serve as CEO of the merged entity, reporting to the company’s board of directors. The new company will build on the multi-faceted, multi-channel family and faith media brands in the portfolio. Closing of the deal is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

Pure Flix and Great American Media share the same mission to serve and delight consumers in the family and faith categories. Combining the power of Great American Media’s linear networks and FAST channel with Pure Flix’s SVOD service and vast content library will provide an opportunity for each platform to reach a larger and broader audience. Bringing the brands together into one entity will immediately establish the company as a leader in the genres.

SPT acquired Pure Flix in December 2020. The service provides faith and family-friendly movies and TV series to its ~1M subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.

Featuring original Christmas movies, rom-coms and classic series that celebrate faith, family and country, Great American Family is currently in ~50M homes and is carried by all major cable providers. Great American Family recently closed out First Quarter 2023 as the fastest-growing network on TV for the second consecutive quarter.
