Brooks Tobey

Chief Technology Officer

Brooks Tobey left Warner Media in 2019 where he was Head of Technology Strategy and Business Operations for Turner Broadcasting System. As part of Turner’s Global Technology Operations organization, Brooks provided strategic technology leadership across audience data and analytics platforms, advertising systems and linear/digital video delivery technologies.  He also led Turner’s cloud strategy, the Emerging Technologies groups and all M&A technology diligence and IP portfolio.  This includes full stack diligence on various linear and SVOD/OTT vendors and solutions, as well as negotiating and managing contracts for these vendors along with major digital technology providers (i.e. Amazon, Akamai, Adobe, etc.).

During 19 years with Turner, Brooks guided the development of ad sales systems and a linear trafficking platform, established mobile application and operations teams, and partnered with MVPD’s on distribution and monetization deals for the company.  Previously, Brooks was product manager for McDonalds’ global store systems.  He also worked for the Army National Guard in IT systems design and development.

Since leaving Warner Media, Brooks has been providing consulting and advisory services to companies in the media space on digital transformations and SVOD optimization, both as a direct consultant and also in a board capacity.  He is also a strategic operating partner for private equity groups assisting with diligence and portfolio advisement.

Brooks earned a bachelor of science in computer science from Regents College in New York, and a master of business administration in technology management from the University of Phoenix. He has served on several boards (iStreamPlanet and Freewheel among them) and was a member of the Strategic Digital Video Advisory Committee for Adobe. Brooks has earned multiple distinctions as a member of the CableFAX Digital Hot List, and led the team responsible for a Technology & Engineering Emmy at Turner.

Brooks lives in Kennesaw, Georgia with his wife – still raising four kids (though two of them are married!).  He enjoys hiking, photography, tennis and golf (in order of capability).
